Failure to integrate with the Peppol network may result in your invoices being rejected by business partners or public institutions.
In countries where e-invoicing is mandatory, this could lead to penalties or complications with VAT reporting.
🇧🇪 Belgium – from January 1, 2026
Companies unable to send or receive e-invoices via the Peppol network risk financial penalties:
€1,500 for the first violation (after a warning)
€3,000 for the second violation
€5,000 for the third and subsequent violations
Fines are calculated quarterly and apply regardless of invoice value.
They also cover cases of incomplete or non-compliant electronic invoices.
🇳🇱 Netherlands – current regulation
E-invoicing is currently mandatory only for public sector transactions.
Non-compliant invoices may be rejected by government institutions.
🇩🇪 Germany – phased implementation
Starting in 2025, companies must be able to receive e-invoices.
By 2027, issuing e-invoices will also become mandatory.
Lack of readiness may result in processing delays, rejected invoices, and reporting issues with clients and authorities.
